Ongoing Current Projects

Contract 44 – RVRSA Emergency Generator and Switchgear Replacement Project, Phase 1 –  Phase 1 of the Electrical Upgrade will replace the two generators in the main operations building with one natural gas engine and one diesel engine.  As of August 2026, construction is underway. Project is being funded through the New Jersey I-Bank.

Contract 45 – RVRSA Main and Unit Substations Replacement Project, Phase 2 – Phase 2 of electrical upgrades to the RVRSA will replace the main utility station and two unit substations.  As of August 2026, the project is under design.  

Contract 47 – Jersey City Trunk Sewer Replacement Boonton Section – This project will repair a portion of the 100-year old Jersey City Trunkline located on the Jersey City Reservoir property with the Town of Boonton.  In addition, the project will replace the Town of Boonton Meter Chamber.  

Contract 49 – Installation of new Backflow Preventer and Enclosure – This project will install a new backflow preventer for the main water connection to the RVRSA. 

Contract 51 – Effluent Flow Meter Project – This project will install a new magnetic flow meter to measure the treated wastewater being discharged to the Rockaway River.

Contract 52 – Elevator Project – This project replaced the Main Operation Building elevator and Fire Alarm System.

 PFAS (Per- and polyfluoroalkyl) Pilot Study –  This project will test different types of carbon for the removal of PFAS substances from the effluent of the RVRSA.
